Department of Mathematics
Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur
The Secure and Information Lab (SIL) at the Department of Mathematics, IIT Kharagpur is dedicated to research in cryptography, information security, and privacy-preserving technologies. Led by Prof. Ratna Dutta and Prof. Sourav Mukhopadhyay, the lab focuses on developing new cryptographic primitives, secure communication protocols, and privacy-preserving protocols to address contemporary digital security challenges. SIL combines theoretical mathematics with practical cybersecurity applications, covering areas such as classical cryptography, post-quantum cryptography, and blockchain systems. Over the years, 21 PhD students, 2 PostDoc fellows, and 1 CER have graduated from SIL and are now contributing to reputed institutions and research labs across the world. Currently, SIL consists of 12 PhD students, 3 project students, 1 Research Associate, and 1 PostDoc fellow. The lab fosters a collaborative environment for faculty, researchers, and students to work on cutting-edge projects that ensure confidentiality, integrity, and authenticity of information in today's digital era.
